The president of the Egyptian Football Association has called on Fifa to investigate the referees who oversaw their World Cup defeat to Argentina.
Hany Abo Rida called for an inquiry into the entire team of referees and video technology referees after what they call "blatant errors and insisting on not reviewing some of the footage that we believe are in favour of the Egyptian national team".
"The Egyptian Football Association cannot remain silent regarding the refereeing decisions witnessed during the match against Argentina as well as the failure to make appropriate use of the Video Assistant Referee (VAR) system," the statement read.
The Pharaohs lost after Argentina staged a remarkable comeback on Tuesday, from 2-0 down to 3-2, to beat them and earn a place in the quarterfinals.
In a post on social media on Tuesday, the federation said it has lodged a complaint with football's world governing body and wants an investigation into the entire team of referees and video technology referees for "double standards" of officiating in the game.
"The Egyptian Football Association cannot remain silent regarding the refereeing decisions witnessed during the match against Argentina as well as the failure to make appropriate use of the Video Assistant Referee (VAR) system," the post read.
The video assistant referee (VAR) ruled out a second goal by Mostafa Zico after midfielder Marwan Attia was penalised for stepping on Argentina's Lisandro Martinez's foot at the start of the move, with Egypt leading 1-0 in the second half.
Egypt were also furious after claiming Mohamed Salah was fouled in Argentina's penalty area seconds before the reigning champions broke to score the winner through Enzo FernĂĄndez, making it 3-2.
The team then appealed for VAR to review the referee's decision not to award a foul, as had happened with Zico's disallowed goal - but the request was denied by French referee François Letexier.

"Hany Abou Rida president of the Egyptian Football Federation, filed a complaint with Fifa, demanding an investigation into the French referee Francois Letexier after the serious refereeing mistakes committed by the team of referees and double standards, which caused the Egypt team to lose the match and leave the World Cup," the statement read.
The EFA then "demanded the exclusion of the referee and the entire crew from the World Cup after investigating these mistakes".
Argentina will now play Switzerland in the quarterfinals at 2am BST on Sunday.
