Fans left stunned as wayward clearance causes terrifying CAR CRASH on live TV during football match

A URUGUAYAN football match caused chaos when a wayward clearance sensationally led to a horrifying car crash.

Uruguay Montevideo and Paysandu locked horns in a Segunda Division Profesional clash at the tiny Estadio Parque ANCAP yesterday.

And the home side’s Richard Nunez inadvertently put those outside the arena in danger when he stopped a promising counter-attack.

Paysandu were looking to bag the showdown’s opener after quickly breaking away following a poor Uruguay Montevideo corner.

Nunez ended those hopes by rushing across and thumping the ball onto a busy road.

But the defender’s no-nonsense clearance caused a terrifying car accident – with one vehicle smashing into the back of another.

Although no injuries were caused by the crash, traffic was stopped for 20 minutes.

The shocking moment was captured on live TV and had fans racing onto social media.

One said: “A car slammed on the brakes to avoid hitting it and got rear-ended. Pure South American football.”

Another added: “One of the most crazy things I’ve ever seen.”

Uruguay Montevideo went on to notch a 1-0 win following the unexpected incident.

Lucas Rodriguez bagged what proved to be the only goal of the contest just before half-time.
