Fans want UFC London fighter fired ‘on the spot’ after 8-pound weight miss instantly cancels fight

One UFC London fighter missed weight for the third time on Friday — and they were not even close to making it.

The Octagon has arrived back in England’s capital city, where a number one featherweight contender is expected to be decided when Lerone Murphy battles Movsar Evloev in Saturday’s main event.

Both men made successful trips to the scale on Friday morning to make their fight official, as did the likes of Michael ‘Venom’ Page, Roman Dolidze, and Losene Keita.

But not every UFC London fighter completed their pre-fight duty.

Luana Carolina misses weight by eight pounds, UFC London fight against Melissa Mullins canceled

London has not proven to be a successful location for Luana Carolina.

Her fight with Melissa Mullins has been canceled after the Brazilian missed the 136-pound limit for non-title bantamweight fights by a mammoth eight pounds.

Moments after Mullins broke down in tears after making weight, Carolina tipped the scales at 144 pounds, putting her only a couple of pounds under the featherweight limit.

‘Dread’ was looking to record her first win at The O2 arena, having lost both of her fights across the Atlantic so far. After Molly McCann’s spinning elbow knockout left her out cold in 2022, Carolina was beaten by Joanne Wood on the scorecards the following year.

She has now lost the chance to snap her UFC London skid after a mammoth indiscretion on the scale.

Friday’s shocking miss was not Carolina’s first time failing to hit her divisional limit in the UFC. If the promotion follows a ‘three strikes and you’re out’ approach, the Brazilian’s time on MMA’s biggest stage could be up.

The 32-year-old missed the flyweight limit by 2.5 pounds before beating Poliana Botelho in 2021 and three pounds prior to a 2024 victory over Julija Stoliarenko. The UFC London fight would have marked only her second since moving up to bantamweight.

Unsurprisingly, fans are expecting her time in the Octagon to be over.
