13:40 Newcastle – Witch Hunter (each-way)

ITV Racing is back Saturday with action from Newcastle and York, starting here with a handicap over 7f. Some decent animals amongst them down the handicap. I’ll chance WITCH HUNTER who will have to switched off the rail if he’s to get any sort of run. The old boy – although only seven – is now down to a mark of 96 which is the lowest rating he’s had in his 56 runs to date. He showed nothing really at a huge price at Royal Ascot in the Hunt Cup when 19th of 28 although 11th of 20 in his group. That all said there is no reason why he can’t show something here. An each-way hope for John Fahy and Richard Hannon.

13:55 York – Frankies Dream

A handicap over 1m. FRANKIES DREAM is knocking at the door and ran really well here when second over 1f further at the track last time. He’s gone up from 81 to 83 for that effort, but he’s got a good draw and is going to give us a decent run. Let’s hope he can notch up a seventh success. Jennie Candlish trains with Clifford Lee doing the steering.

14:10 Newcastle – Diligent Harry

The Group 3 Chipchase Stakes over 6f. Jersey Stakes winner Noble Champion has the ability to blitz this lot but he looked like he needed gelding in France last time. I’m happy to stick with the admirable DILIGENT HARRY who took this last year at 16-1. That was a good renewal and at Newmarket and York on his last two runs he’s shown the ability is still there. Saffie Osborne on top for Clive Cox. No excuses today.

14:25 York – Boston Dan (each-way)

A handicap for three-year-old’s over 5f. A nightmare! BOSTON DAN might be a lurker for the Fahey team and Oisin Orr. I’m happy enough with his draw in stall 12 and his mark of 90. He wasn’t totally disgraced at the course last time off 92 when 80-1, and last year he had good form at the track including a second at 66-1. Can go well at 6f and this trip of 5f. I’ll risk him each-way.

14:40 Newcastle – Savrola (each-way)

The consolation race for the Northumberland Vase Handicap over an extended 2m. SAVROLA has surely been laid out for this having taken the prize last year off a mark of 75. He’s in a good stall to bang out and get to the front once again – he likes front running – and while 5lb higher I’m sure he will have just been getting ready for this on the grass so I’m ignoring recent form. Dianne Sayer trains with Paul Mulrennan riding. Should be an each-way price.

14:58 York – Never So Brave

Up in class now for the Group 3 Criterion Stakes over 7f. Saber Strike might well bounce back from a flop at Royal Ascot, but I’ll stick with Group 1 winner NEVER SO BRAVE who took the City of York over course and distance last season. He has to give a lot of weight away but is a class act for Oisin Murphy and Andrew Balding.

15:15 Newcastle – Tribal Star (each-way)

The big betting race of the day in the Northumberland Plate Handicap over an extended 2m. Usually there’s a sexy unexposed horse in this but I don’t think that’s the case this time. TRIBAL STAR has a horrible draw, but he will be dropped out by Adam Caffrey and it’s a long straight so hopefully he can make some ground up late on and get into the frame at least. Last year, off a mark of 88, he finished fourth staying on well, and he had a low draw then. It’s not impossible and it might help his style of running to be out wide. He loves the all-weather so forget what he’s been doing on grass. Have a few quid on each-way for Ado McGuinness.

15:45 Newcastle – Pocklington

A handicap over 6f. Tough to sort out. POCKLINGTON should be bang in the mix for PJ McDonald and Geoff Oldroyd. My hope loves this track and only in January went close here off 99. He runs off 100 now having recently had win surgery and run all right at York last time. Every chance on his best form.

So best of luck and pray for Yeeehaaas. You hear me Paddy?
