Pompey kick off their season today, with an enticing trip to the London Stadium for a Carabao Cup game against West Ham.

While the Blues saw their form pick up at the end of last season, eventually ending up safe in the Championship with several games left to play, West Ham’s final day of the season saw heartbreak as they were relegated from the Premier League with 39 points - a total which would usually guarantee safety.

Pompey fans may see Rocco Shein make his competitive debut today, with new striker Marko Milovanovic also in contention for at least some game time.

Over the summer West Ham have lost winger Crysencio Summerville to Saudi side Al Hilal for £55m, and midfielder Mateus Fernandes to Spurs, but have kept hold of their stalwart captain Jarrod Bowen and have signed former Brighton defender Joel Veltman.

Sky Sports+ is showing every match from today’s 29-game strong Carabao Cup first round fixture list. West Ham v Pompey kicks off in London at 3pm. Sports subscribers can also watch the game live online on the Sky Go app.

Pompey have several games on TV in the coming weeks. The Championship opener against QPR at Fratton Park next Saturday (August 15) at 3pm will be on Sky Sports+, as will the following weekend’s trip to Lincoln on Saturday, August 22, which has a 12.30pm kick-off.

Other televised games include Southampton (midday on Sunday, October 11) at St Mary’s, Millwall (Saturday, October 24, 12.30pm kick-off) at Fratton Park, and Stoke at home (Saturday, November 7, 12.30pm kick-off).
