Quansah, returning to the starting XI for the Azteca encounter, was dismissed following a VAR review for a high challenge on Mexico full-back Jesus Gallardo.

With both players contesting a 50-50 ball, Quansah was a touch too enthusiastic to win the ball on the stretch, but jumped in and caught Gallardo high on his left leg.
Play was initially allowed to continue, sparking fury on the Mexican bench, with England winger Anthony Gordon then being taken out seconds later.

It was chaos on the touchline after that with numerous substitutes and coaching staff getting involved in heated fracas with the referee forced to stop play as a result.

As a result of his sending off, Quansah has become the first England player since Wayne Rooney against Portugal in 2006 to be shown an early bath.

Speaking to talkSPORT after the game, Tuchel said: âI saw the tackle live on the sideline. I think it is a tough tackle. There's no need for this kind of tackle.
âLater on VAR on the screen, I saw that the leg is quite high, but I think there's no risk of an injury.
âI still struggle with the decision because there's no foul given and then it goes straight into a red."
