Liverpool hero Jamie Carragher believes it was probably the right call to replace Arne Slot with Andoni Iraola, but because of the results and fan sentiment, rather than the Dutchman's style of play.
"This idea that Liverpool love this style of football because of Jurgen Klopp... no, no, no. Every fan loves that style of football," Carragher told The Football Ramble podcast. "I hope we don't become the kind of club that says, 'Klopp played this style of football, so we have to get a manager like that.'
"Arne Slot was more controlled and passive, but he didn't lose his job because of style. He lost it because of results. If he had challenged for the league and won a domestic cup, then he would still be in a job.
"Every style can win and lose. Iraola's style is exciting, yes. But if you lose, you're saying, 'We're wide open, we're getting done on the counterattack.'
"Pep Guardiola or Slot's style of football, when it doesn't work, it's slow and ponderous. There's good and bad."
Liverpool's new signing Victor Munoz has opened up on how Andoni Iraola's style will suit his game. The Spanish winger joined his team-mates at Kirkby yesterday and was given the No. 23 shirt.
Speaking to the club website, he said: "His style, it is well known already that he likes to play with open wingers on both sides and to build this constant and intense pressure, this overwhelming drive forward.
âSo, I think that fits perfectly with my skillset, these are tools that I as a player also bring to the game, so I think it is a good fit for me and I hope to bring these skills to Liverpool."

And from the French side, L'Equipe claim the two clubs are "very far apart", but they expect the deal to get done, perhaps after PSG have added another winger and striker to their squad.
