14:30 Aix La Chapelle

Day 3 of Royal Ascot 2025 starts with the Listed Chesham Stakes for juveniles colts and geldings over 7f. Here we go again with Aidan O’Brien and Ryan Moore! AIX LA CHAPELLE is a son of the mighty Triple Crown hero Justify but despite being the lesses fancied Ballydoyle runner in the race made a winning debut at the Curragh in early June. He was green then changing legs but stayed on powerfully. A half-brother to Henry Matisse won won at the Breeders’ Cuyp he surly will be hard to beat.

15:05 Heyzoom

The King George V Handicap for 3yo over 1m4f. So many potential improvers in here at a trip which many have never tried before. HEYZOOM is my fancy, as I was at Newbury working and was impressed with him when he scored at the track a few weeks ago. He kept on well that day over 1m2f and I suspect will have more to come. Saffie Osborne gets the chance for Owen Burrows on a horse related to Baaeed and Hukum from the family of the great Nashwan.

15:40 Johanna Walsh (each-way)

Another Group 2 here in the Ribblesdale for 3yo fillies over 1m4f. JOHANNA WALSH has no chance on ratings but I suspect she’s got plenty more to give and is worth a few quid each-way. My selection made all and stayed on powerfully to beat Believed in a maiden at Leopardstown and she looked special that day. The hood seemed to make a big difference and it will be no surprise if connections mulled over an Oaks challenge. She now goes for the Ascot Oaks for Dylan Browne McMonagle and Joseph O’Brien.

16:15 Miss Alpilles (each-way)

The big race of this week in the Group 1 Gold Cup over 2m4f. Scandinavia will be all the rage and is definitely the most likely winner. I expect him to score. I’m suggesting throwing a bit each-way on roughie MISS ALPILLES, in the colours of Arcadian Heights who won this back in 1994. My selection has no chance on ratings, but she wants twenty five miles let alone two and a half, and if she’s ridden cold off the pace she might just run through a few beaten horses. Her effort at York last time was a good one in a race like this that on paper she could not win. Obviously it’s a massive leap of faith
but! Ed Walker and Kieran Shoemark team up for the shock.

16:50 Exclusive Code

Here’s the Britannia Handicap for 3yo over 1m. Obviously the draw may be a nightmare, but when you are down low you only really have one option and I’m hoping EXCLUSIVE CODE can bounce out and make all for Archie Watson and Kieran Shoemark. The Wathnan animal didn’t quite see out 7f as a juvenile, but he was gelded before his first run this season and stayed on well over this trip on his return to win a maiden at Newbury. This is an obvious target and there is every chance he’s on a good mark.

17:35 Morshdi

Up in class again now for the Group 3 Hampton Court Stakes for 3yo over 1m2f. MORSHDI was absolutely hopeless in the Dante at York but it’s hard to believe he’s not better than that. The William Haggas inmate missed Chester but returned this season with a fine success in the Feilden Stakes at Newmarket and this trip should be right up his street. Tom Marquand is up for his boss.

18:10 Apiartist

The Buckingham Palace Stakes Handicap over 7f. APIARIST is right at the hilt of his handicap mark having been eighth in this event last year off a mark of 98. He returns at the same level. That day he ran on really well at the trip and clearly the track is no issue. I think ground is key for him. He’s not run much on good to firm in big fields and he was a real eyecatcher at Thirsk last time when sixth to Mirsky. He stays on the same mark after that contest and would have won with a clear run. Fascinating runner for Kevin Ryan and Jack Callan takes 3lb off. I’m strong on this.

So best of luck and pray for Yeeehaaas. You hear me Paddy?
