The summer window is heading into crucial weeks as the likes of Arsenal, Manchester United, Chelsea, Liverpool and Tottenham work on huge deals. The Gunners are assessing new targets after missing out on Vinicius Jr, with Julian Alvarez a key target for attack and Ezri Konsa for the defence. An approach for Tottenham captain Cristian Romero also failed. Bruno Guimaraes has been confirmed as the club’s fourth summer signing after passing his medical earlier in the week.

Manchester United are desperate for a new left-back, but have admitted defeat in attempts to sign Lewis Hall after Newcastle ruled out a sale so have turned to Jorge Salinas. Chelsea are set to confirm the arrival of Pep Chavarria, but could lose both Enzo Fernandez and Pedro Neto to Manchester City.

Liverpool have agreed a shock deal to sign Ronald Araujo on loan, but remain keen to wrap up a deal for Bradley Barcola and Ibrahim Mbaye. Tottenham are exploring a deal for Georges Mikautadze, and remain keen on Cody Gakpo and Savinho, as Micky van de Ven agrees a new contract. Bruno Guimaraes on Arsenal's midfield

“I would say I can pass the ball, run a lot and play like a warrior, I’ll never give up.

“I will try to help the team, good with the ball, composed, very calm, and sometimes I can score some goals and hope to make everyone very, very happy here.

“[Declan] Rice sent me a message: ‘Come here and please no more fights, now we’re friends.’ I was happy he messaged me, but the midfield we have here, in my point of view, is one of the best in Europe.

“Everyone is an amazing player, I'm so excited to start chatting and play, and know the players very, very well, but we have an amazing midfield.”

Bruno Guimaraes on joining Arsenal

“I feel good, I feel amazing. I'm glad for the opportunity. Since the first time I spoke to [Andrea] Berta and Mikel [Arteta], I was excited.

“I just felt inside of me that I need a new challenge in my life and I think to be an Arsenal player is going to be an exciting challenge in my life.

“After playing two World Cups, I think I’m at the point of my life, I think I need a challenge like this. I want to win trophies, I want to make history and I think I'm in the right place to do it.

“I'm so excited to start. We have tough games to play this season, so the squad is going to be very, very important and I’m hopeful we can achieve our dreams.”

Arsenal sporting director Andrea Berta

“We are delighted to welcome Bruno Guimaraes to our club.

“Bruno is a player with a great mentality and great quality, who will bring strong leadership to our squad.

“With Bruno joining us, we are further strengthening the heart of our team. As we have all seen, Bruno can play as a defensive midfielder and as a box-to-box player.

“He combines quality with quantity, and has provided goals and assists for his team every year.

“Bruno will allow Mikel [Arteta] to further develop our playing style and will also increase our internal competitiveness, which is essential for maintaining the standards required when we are aiming to win major trophies.”
