Derek McInnes will take charge of his first European fixture as Rangers manager on Thursday when his side travel to Poland to face Jagiellonia Bialystok in the Europa League third qualifying round first leg.

The first-ever meeting between the two clubs will take place at 22,000-capacity Chorten Arena in Bialystok ahead of the return leg at Ibrox Stadium in Glasgow next week.

McInnes will hope for a more positive performance from his team than the one produced in the Scottish Premiership opener against Dundee United at Tannadice on Friday where Rangers dropped two points in a 1-1 draw.

Jagiellonia finished third in the Polish top flight last season and reached the Conference League play-off round before being knocked out by Fiorentina 5-4 on aggregate after extra time.

They have made a good start to the new Ekstraklasa season after collecting six points from their opening two matches.

Former Celtic defender Yuki Kobayashi is part of their squad which also includes Nik Prelec, the Slovenian forward signed from Oxford United this summer, and ex-Derby County winger Kamil Jozwiak.

The winner of the tie will advance to the Europa League play-off round to face either Larne or Iberia 1999. The losing side will drop down to the UEFA Conference League play-off stage.

Centre-back Olwethu Makhanya could make his Rangers debut after Ben Godfrey was ruled out for four weeks with a hamstring injury picked up in the 1-1 draw with Dundee United last Friday. Fellow new signing Daisuke Yokota could also make his first appearance for the club after signing from Hannover 96 the day before the game. Midfielder Nico Raskin, who has been linked with a move away from Rangers and who has yet to play under McInnes after taking a break following World Cup duty with Belgium, has also travelled.
